Applying Trauma-Informed Strategies to Enhance Resilience

This session explored how to enhance our support for customers and staff who are coping with their own trauma exposure, as well as the additional collective stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic and racial violence. The six principles of trauma-informed approaches -- safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support; empowerment, voice and choice; collaboration and mutuality; and cultural, historical and gender issues -- will be utilized to describe an array of individual and organization strategies to build and support resilience in customers and staff. Participants used an assessment tool to begin to identify areas for growth and improvement using the six principles.
