Individual Placement and Support (IPS) for Young Adults – A Research Study
Presenters: Margaret Lopresto, Lori Norton, Shelia Runyon
CEU: 1.5
Helping young adults find employment is beneficial to their recovery. It can foster a sense of empowerment and pride that gives a continuous sense of capability and control. Individual Placement and Support (IPS) supported employment can help youth living with mental illness and co-occurring disorders work at regular jobs of their choosing. Although variations of supported employment exist, IPS refers to the evidence-based practice of supported employment. Mainstream education and training are included as ways to advance career paths. This session includes information on tips for working with transition-age youth and their families, access these services in your area, learn about the IPS Youth research study and hear how the IPS Youth study has helped a young person.
